Abstract
Investigations on the effects of ridging and non-ridging on yield and quality of varieties Anett and Roslin Gucha were conducted in the Central zone of Kenya (Tigoni) between 1980 and 1982.
Ridging gave significantly higher yields of seed and were sized tubers than non-ridging.
Increasing depth of planting in the non-ridging treatments increase percent saleable tubers and reduced greening effect than shallow planting.
Anett was more susceptible to potato tuber moth (Phthorimaea operculella) infestation.
Roslin Gucha had higher tuber dry matter content than Anett while dry matter contents were generally high during the short rains than the long rains.
