Abstract
Oxidative processes, particle aggregation and loss of coat protein are some of the phenomena causing loss of infectivity during purification of viruses of the PVY group.
Using electron microscopy, no evidence was found that aggregation and loss of coat protein occurred in a cellular environment.
Typical inclusion bodies associated with infections of the viruses in the PVY group apparently do not represent virus inclusions.
