Abstract
In Japan, the forcing strawberry culture in plastic greenhouses has remarkably increased these seven or eight years.
In 1971, the area of this type of cultivation reached about 3,600 ha.
At the beginning of plastic greenhouse’s cultivation, the fruits were quite frequently malformed, resulting in a serious problem.
This undesirable phenomenon was widely prevailing with the increasing in the number of plastic greenhouses and with an earlier time of forcing.

To clarify the possible causes of the occurrence of malformed fruits, the following experiments have been carried out since 1966.
