Abstract
Herbicides have practically no reason to be used in strawberry plant cultures under shelter.
In fixed greenhouses, the number of adventives is rather small since the soil has been disinfected.
Before being put under shelter, the strawberry plants grow in the open air, from the beginning of August till winter, either in place, in the case of mobile shelters, or in nursery, in case of fixed greenhouses.
During this period, they are treated with herbicides of rather long-lived radicular action, such as chloroxuron, lenacil or simazine.
Maximum efficacity closely depends upon the respect of well-established conditions of use: products, doses, types of adventives and development, condition of the soil, climate, period of culture, way of application.
Black plastic mulching used along with herbicides makes it possible to grow strawberry plants under shelter with a minimum of work.
