Abstract
The results of a study aimed at identifying the contribution of shallow water table to water supply of peach grafted on seedling and GF 677 rootstocks are reported.

It has been observed that after the second growing season, both rootstocks induced the greatest canopy expansion with water table 100 cm deep.
The year after, the greatest canopy expansion was different with water table 140–160 cm deep, showing that shallow water had less pronounced effects because of water excess and limited root growing.

It was found that the GF 677 rootstock is more vigorous compared to the seedling and proved to be more able to be supplied from deep water table.

The effects of water table depth on the plant biometric traits seem progressively mitigated over time, as a result of an adaptation of the tree to the soil and hydrologic conditions concerned.
