Abstract
The effect of two shade materials (clay and 80% Saran) on Red Success cut flower productivity during summer were tested.
The greenhouse, covered with glass, were placed in one of the most important country with high cut rose quality in Argentina (Los Cardales, Pcia.
Buenos Aires). The results showed that irradiance reduction were extremely high, including control glasshouse (40–50%). There were no change in air temperature.
Growth rate, rose bud heigh, and dry weight of cut shoot were higher in the control than with two shade materials used.
Differences in growth parameters were higher during the second harvest (March). Heat stress and low irradiances at the end of the summer reduced cut rose quality.
