Abstract
Imported agrotextiles Agryl 17 and Lutrasil 17 were compared with the domestic material Vrteks 23 as regards their use for covering pickling cucumbers.
Before and after covering the mechanical properties were evaluated.
Elongation at break was the highest at Lutrasil 17 and lower at Agryl 17 and Vrteks 23, especially in the longitudinal direction.
Under all agrotextiles the temperature of air and soil and relative humidity were higher than in the open.
The increase of maximum temperatures was higher than the increase of minimum ones.

Covering with agrotextiles increased the vegetative development, especially the length of vines and number of leaves per plant.
The early yield of cucumbers was 10 to 25 % higher and the total yields were 8 to 15 % higher under agrotextiles than in the open.
