INFLUENCE OF COVERING WITH FIBRECLOTH AND PLASTIC ON TIMING, YIELD AND QUALITY OF KOHLRABI

The methods of covering the plants with fibrecloth, and a fibrecloth- and plastic-tunnel were tested with six cultivars of kohlrabi.
With fibrecloth cover the yields were a little better and the growing time some days shorter.
However in the timing of yield the choice of cultivar seemed to be as important as the covering with fibrecloth.
The F₁-hybrid cultivars ‘Bocal’, ‘Korist’, ‘Kolpak’ and ‘Kolibri’ had shorter growing time than the older cultivars ‘Lanro’ and ‘Purple Vienna’.
