Abstract
Using a selective 14C labeling technique, the retranslocation of reserves stored in the permanent vine structure, was investigated.
Under non-stressing conditions, there was no retranslocation of carbon reserves to support fruit maturation.
Under stress conditions, carbon mobilization from the storage organs to the fruit was highest during the middle of the ripening period and stopped 3 weeks prior to ripeness.
