Abstract
The rubberwood sawdust: peat mix (RS: Peat Mix) was evaluated on growth and yield of melon (Cucumis melo. L). The plants were grown in 5 liters of 0: 100; 25: 75: 50: 50: 75: 25 and 100: 0 RS: Peat Mix using bag culture.
There was reduction in growth and yield of plants grown with high a proportion of RS. Yield obtained from 50: 50 and 75: 25 RS: Peat Mix was reduced slightly compared to 100% Peat.
In the following experiment, four plants were grown in five different root zone volumes (8, 16,24, 32 and 40 liters) of RS: Peat Mix (50: 50) slab.
Yield was increased with increasing root zone volumes from 8 to 16 liters.
There was no significant increase in yield with further increase in root zone volumes.
