Abstract
Experiments were carried out using shredded and fibrous Miscanthus added in different quantities to a sphagnum peat substrate.
Furthermore, the rates of a slow release fertiliser were varied so as to ascertain the influence of nutrient supply on the growth of two shrub species.
The results show that Miscanthus appears to be an interesting biomass product that can be used to stretch peat reserves.
It may be possible to develop a 100% Miscanthus substrate along the lines of wood fiber products.
