Abstract
In addition to the classic triangle for soil texture classification a new diagram was proposed to integrate statistical parameters, represented by the geometric particle-size diameter (dg) and the geometric standard deviation (σg), within textural classes.
In previous works the use of dg and σg resulted in statistically valuable and objective descriptions of the granulometric alteration of growing media.
In previous works the use of dg and σg resulted in statistically valuable and objective descriptions of the granulometric alteration of growing media.
Based on the mentioned diagram for soils a similar one has been proposed for granular substrates.
Three groups of granular substrates have been selected from the literature to study both the usefulness of the proposed diagram to compare textural composition and the resolution of dg and σg in detecting differences between substrate textures.
