Abstract
Two studies were conducted to evaluate Styrolite® (expanded polystyrene) as compared to rockwool and polyethylene filled pine and spruce sawdust tubes for the production of seedless cucumbers in a greenhouse.
Different grades, volumes and types of Styrolite® were studied.
The marketable yields of cucumbers in Styrolite® filled tubes were found to be significantly different in the first experiment based on volume.
In the second experiment yield difference was found to be non significant on comparable basis of volume with sawdust tubes and rockwool slabs.
