Abstract
Apical shoot-tips from field-grown plants were established on MS medium supplemented with 0.1 mg.l-1 BAP. The highest multiplication rate, nine shoots per explant every four weeks, was achieved on the same medium supplemented with 0.5 mg.l-1 BAP. One hundred percent of rooted plants were observed with 0.4 mg.l-1 IBA. Plantlets were successfully acclimatized to greenhouse conditions.
Callus cultures were induced from leaves of in vitro cultured plants.
The best conditions for calli induction and growth were found to be B5 medium supplemented with 1 mg.l-1 2,4-D and 0.1 mg.l-1 kinetin, under 16 h photoperiod.
