Abstract
This paper discusses the feasibility of growing cool season crops under hot arid conditions in Jizan, Saudi Arabia.

Several cultivars of different vegetable kinds were tried out such as:

Leafy vegetables : lettuce, cabbage and parsley
Root vegetables : radish, carrot, turnip and table beets
Flowering vegetables : broccoli and cauliflower
Leguminous vegetables : beans, broad beans and peas.

The preliminary results indicated that cool season crops could be successfully grown under Jizan conditions if they are planted during the proper time of planting.
