Abstract
Field performance and processing quality of nine cultivars of dry beans were studied in Shendi, Wad Medani and Sennar regions.
Cultivars varied according to locality.

The most suitable cultivars for canning at Shendi were: Baladi "S", Baladi, White Beans, Light Red Kidney, Pinto, White Kidney, Perry Marrow; for Wad Medani: Baladi "S", Baladi, White Beans and White Kidney; and for Sennar: Baladi "S", Baladi, White Beans and Perry Marrow.

Great Northern and Red Kidney proved to be unacceptable for canning in Sennar region and were fairly good in Shendi and Medani areas.
