Abstract
Growing staked cucumbers under plastic tunnels is considered a new practice in Egypt as well as other developing countries.

The objective of this study was to find out the effect of plant density and fertilizer ratios on the growth and yield of cucumber plants grown under plastic tunnels.
Three fertilizer ratios (1:1:2, 1:2:1 and 1:2:1) and two plant densities were tested.

The results show that the plants had a better vegetative growth when grown at the wide space (40 cm) than the dense planting (20 cm). The yield was higher in the dense planting than the wide one but differences were not significant.
The fertilizer ratio of 1:1:2 tended to be the best in its effect on vegetative growth and yield.
However differences in yield were not significant.
