Abstract
The variation of solasodine alkaloid production of Solanum nigrum L. stands of various stage of development /sowing took place in various time of the growing season/ was studied by measuring the total above-ground phytomass, its berry proportion, and the variation of the alkaloid content /dry wt.%/ of the green berry.
The open field experiment showed that the appearance of phenophases and a certain level of alkaloid content of the green berry seemingly required roughly the same developmental period of the various old stands.
As for the maximum phytomass and alkaloid production of the stands the earlier sowings were more benefical than the later ones, if the various old stands were compared with each others.
