Abstract
Irradiation with low doses of ionizing rays has been used as a stimulating agent for increasing yields and/or improving quality of various crops /1, 2, 3, 5/. Savin and Stepanenko /6/ found in the U.S.S.R. that irradiation of peppermint with gamma rays in a dose of 3000 r increased its dry matter and essential oil content.
The similar effects were obtained by Mital et al. /4/ in India.
On the other hand, Sherrod /7/ in the U.S.A. found a slight reduction of essential oil content in the irradiated plant of mint.

The objectives of our study was to investigate the effects of irradiation of different organs of peppermint, under different climatic and cultural conditions, upon the essential oil content and its composition.
