Abstract
14C-labelled cardiac glycosides were prepared from 14C-progesterone precursor, using Digitalis lanata plant.
These labelled glycosides are rapidly metabolized by the plant.
It is concluded that the glycosides can be formed from any other glycosides, which shows that both hydroxylation and dehydroxylation of the aglycones can take place in the glycosylated form.
