Abstract
Using saponine-free extracts of Solidago gigantea Ait. and S. canadensis L. /300 mg/kg body weight/, the leaves show stronger activity as compared with the flowers; at the first taxon the hypotensive quotient= 3.0 for 30 minutes, at the second = 2.5 for 15 minutes.

The hypotensive activity of S.virgaurea L. and subsp. alpestris /W. et K./ Rchb. was reported beforehand.

Hypotensive activity seems to be a pharmacotaxonomic character of the genus Solidago L. The pharmacotaxonomy could be regared as a relation between the systematic position of plants, the chemotaxonomic features of them and their pharmacological properties.
