Abstract
Lovranska and Creska are autochthonous varieties of sweet cherry tradi-tionally produced in the region of Lovran and on the island of Cres, in the county of Primorsko-goranska, Croatia.
These varieties are known as high quality fruits, with good aroma and size.
Both varieties are preferred by farmers due to the high price and high income they generate.
They are also preferred by consumers and, due to their uniqueness and autochthony, they have the potential to be marketed to tourists at the beginning of the tourism season.
We compared Lovranska sweet cherry on Colt rootstock in two successive years with Hedelfingen, Lambert, Lapins and Katalin. We also compared Creska sweet cherry on P. mahaleb rootstock with Bing, Stella and Sue. Our results show that both varieties have good potential for production, and are at least as good as standard cultivars.
