Abstract
The pomegranate tree grows in a shrub-like form with many trunks, which tend to collapse and break.
Therefore, it is necessary to support the trunks of the tree and its branches, especially when it has fruits.
The common method used in orchards is to support the trunks and tie the branches during the first years of the trees life.
The ties and supports require a lot of handwork.
The growing fruits cause the branches to lean earthwards and to stick to each other.
In this situation, the fruit is exposed to the sun and its quality is damaged and the fruit suffers from several damages: sunburns, scratches and damages from pests.
The problems with this growing technique indeed lowers the quality and the quantity of the fruits and reduces the profitability.
In order to overcome this fundamental problem of the method for growing pomegranates, I developed a system for continuous shaping and trellising, unique for pomegranate trees.
