Abstract
Chimonanthus praecox (L.) Link, known as wintersweet or Japanese allspice, belongs to Calycanthaceae. Wintersweet is grown for the wonderful scent produced by its small flowers in late winter and early spring.
It is a traditional ornamental plant in China with a thousand-year history of being cultivated as a container plant and cut flower.
Many popular cultivars have been developed and used as specimens in gardens.
Since 2014, 18 cultivars of wintersweet have been registered in the International Cultivar Registration Authorities (ICRAs). These cultivars are presented in this paper.
