Research on the comprehensive evaluation and landscape application of 62 Lagerstroemia cultivars

Abstract
Based on the field survey statistics of Lagerstroemia introduced to the Beijing Botanical Garden and comprehensively considering its ornamental value, reproduction ability, and resistance factors, we determined 17 evaluation indexes and established an Analytic Hierarchy Process model for Lagerstroemia cultivars.
The comprehensive landscape application values of 62 Lagerstroemia cultivars were evaluated by this model.
The results showed that ‘Cherry Dazzle’, ‘Peppermint Lace’, ‘Cheyenne’, ‘Tonto’, ‘Queen’s Lace’, and 18 other cultivars have the highest application value. ‘Miami’, ‘Centennial’, ‘Chisam Fire’, ‘Bashams Party Pink’, ‘Catawba’, and 31 other cultivars have a higher garden application value in moderate or smaller applications. ‘Osage’, L’Words Fair’, ‘Caddo’, ‘Bourbon Street’, and 13 other cultivars have a low garden application value and are not suitable for exploiting and utilizing.
In our in-depth analysis of ornamental characteristics and landscape application forms of Lagerstroemia cultivars, key recommendations are given on the high value of the cultivars.
The results of the AHP model used to evaluate Lagerstroemia resources will provide a theoretical basis for the future exploitation and utilization of Lagerstroemia.
