Abstract
The PLMV has only been observed and transmited on peach (Prunus persica Batsch). The other species of the genus Prunus – almond, apricot, cherry, plum – are apparently resistant.
However, if you graft on a rootstock plum a peach bud infected with PLMV, the virus may be passed on to another healthy peach bud distant by 10 cm.
In the same manner, if you graft an intermediate almond or plum between a peach rootstock and a top peach bud, the intermediate allows the transfer of the PLMV from the rootstock towards the top bud.
In both cases, it is impossible to return the virus by indexing from the intermediate almond or plum.
