Abstract
Rasp leaf and decline of sweet cherry were found widespread in the Province of Avellino.
The main symptoms were leaf enation and distortion, bud abortion, twigs dieback and terminal tufts of leaves.
The diseased-trees tested were infected by two viruses : Prune Dwarf Virus(PDV) and Straw berry Latent Ringspot Virus(SLRV).

Nematodes of the genus Longidorus and Xiphinema were found in the rhizosphere of the infected trees; however no known vector species of SLRV was detected.

The viruses were isolated on herbaceous hosts and identified by serological tests.
In graft transmission experiments, combinations of the two viruses caused seedling decline of peach, plum and sour and sweet cherries.
Decline and enations were particularly severe on var. "Bing" and "Sam".
