Abstract
A case study conducted in different locations in the Northern part of Tanzania (Lushoto, Arusha and Moshi) showed that, women can increase their income through home gardening of indigenous vegetables eg. Amaranthus spp., Solanum nigrum, Solanum macrocarpon, Brassica carinata etc. which are commonly consumed in this area.

Indigenous vegetables in home gardening ensures continual supply of vegetables leading to correction of Vitamin A and iron deficiency, source of income to women and hence reducing the burden for searching green vegetables.
