Abstract
Promising seedlings such as 2–89-K, 2–47-K, 2–45-K, and 2–30-K were obtained in breeding work with snowball trees.
These selections have small bushes, dark red fruits with a weak bitter quality and a yield of approximately 8–9 ton/ha.

Five hybrids of japanese quince (S-68, S-70, and 88–8–47) have been obtained.
These hybrids have thornless canes equal in size, and yellow and green fruits with small seed cells.
Their fruit yield is more than 10 ton/ha with a mean weight per fruit of at least 50 grams and a flesh thickness of 1.2–1.4 cm.
The most promising selection of felt cherry (2–25-V, 2–48-V, 2–83-V, 3–49-V, and 3–50-V) were collected and had yields of 8–13 ton/ha with a mean weight per fruit of 1.5–2.2 grams.
These selections have low bushes, red to dark red fruits with long pedioles, medium firm skin and a tendency to drop off at maturity.
