Abstract
Ziziphus Mill., Rhamnaceae, consists of about 170 species, which are mainly distributed in the tropical and subtropical regions.
It was found that the center of both distribution and differentiation of the genus was in South and Southeast Asia.
The genus was grouped into two sections: (1) Sect. Ziziphus, with glabrous body and deciduous fruiting branchlets, mainly distributed in temperate zone; (2) Sect. Perdurans, with at least two kinds of pilose organs and persistent fruiting branchlets, distributed in tropical and subtropical areas.
Sect. Perdurans was further divided into two series, Cymosiflorae and Thyrsiflorae, basing mainly on the type of inflorescence and texture of fruit stone.
