Abstract
In a hydroponic culture, the reduction in pH variance is very important.
In general, acid and alkaline are used to correct the nutrient pH, but the addition of a large quantity of acid or alkaline will cause a disruption in the nutrient components.
In this study, the use of silicate minerals, which causes pH- buffering by a negative charge action, was discussed in order to develop a pH-buffer water treatment system.
Therefore, a prototype water circulation treatment system using Quartz Porphyry was produced, and a pH-buffer test was carried out using distilled water.
The treated water turned turbid using the corpuscles of Quartz Porphyry, and it seems that the surface of the corpuscles of Quartz Porphyry have a negative charge.
Accordingly, the quantity of negative charge about the corpuscles of the Quartz Porphyry is directly related to the pH-buffering action.
Therefore, the zeta potential of the corpuscles of Quartz Porphyry was measured in order to confirm the additional negative charge.
As a result, the corpuscles of the Quartz Porphyry had an additional negative charge (pH-dependent charge). Therefore, water treated by the prototype system caused the pH-buffer action against acid and alkaline addition.
