Abstract
Effect of NO3, Cl and SO4 ratios in the nutrient solution on yield and growth of semi-forced strawberries in closed rockwool system was studied.
Strawberries were grown with five different ratios (me/l) of NO3, Cl and SO4 in the treatment solution as follows; 5.3:0.0:1.1 (control), 4.0:1.3:1.1, 2.7:2.7:1.1, 4.0:0.0:2.4, 2.7:0.0:3.7. Total yield as expressed by numbers and weight of fruits, and growth as expressed by fresh weight of leaves and the size at the end of the experiment did not differ significantly among treatments.
Total-N and SO4 content in leaves were not significantly different among treatments.
The content of Cl increased with increasing Cl concentration in the nutrient solution (0.36% in control vs 0.86% in 2.7:2.7:1.1 treatment). It is suggested that growth and yield of strawberry may not be affected by the concentration of Cl up to 2.7 me/l in the root environment.
