Abstract
Pear cultivars grown in Hungary are characterized by their ecological demands and by their blooming periods.
The importance of these characters is discussed from the point of view of selecting pollinizer cultivars in pear orchards at areas with different ecological conditions within the country.
Effect of the block size on the yield of main cultivar is discussed, too.
The maximum acceptable distance between the main and the pollinizer cultivar is suggested to be not more than some 15 to 21 m and so single cultivar blocks may not be wider than some 30–40 m at the maximum.
