Abstract
We choosed to analyse the essential oil of Senecio filaginoides var. lobulatus (Hook et Arn), family Asteraceae, whose common name is “Yuyo Moro”.
This was obtained by steam distillation of plant from of Escalante department, Chubut province.
The cutting took place in March and April.
Dried stems and leaves were used.
We obtained an intense yellow oil with a total efficiency of 1% (ml of essential oil every 100 g of dried leaves). The refraction index was determined, its value was 1.4928. Spectrometric UV visible determination showed a main peak at 375 nm.
The quali-quantitative analysis of the essential oil was performed by gas chromatography (GC) and mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The main components found are:
-pinene 20%;
-terpinene 28%; R-silvestrene 6%;
-terpinene 4.4%; (-)spatulenol 1.5%; 3-carene 0.6%; guaiol 0.4%.
