Abstract
The application of molecular marker technologies can significantly increase our understanding of crop plants and their wild relatives and importantly, can increase the effectiveness of breeding programmes.
This paper briefly outlines the development of SSR markers in raspberry and discusses their potential uses in understanding the relationships between wild and cultivated raspberries and in tackling raspberry root rot.
