Abstract
Vitamin C (VC) is – besides sugar, minerals, organic acids and flavour — an important factor for the nutritional value of tomatoes.
The VC content primarily depends on genetic factors but is also considerably affected by environmental conditions.
Schuphan (1972), Fritz et al. (1976) and others already reported on the variability of the VC content of tomatoes as dependent on cultivars.
This paper presents some results on the VC content of tomatoes as affected by solar radiation.
