Abstract
The effect of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) on rooting capacity of softwood cuttings of a dogrose species (R. canina L.) was studied.
Softwood cuttings from outdoor-grown dogrose plants were treated with 5 different concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 ppm) of IBA for 20 or 30 min each, planted in containers filled with sand for rooting and subsequently placed in a glasshouse.
Our results showed that the highest rooting percentage (30.6%) with maximum root length occurred in cuttings treated with 25 ppm IBA for 20 min and the largest number of roots per cutting (10.0) was obtained with 100 ppm IBA for 30 minutes.
