Abstract
Powdery mildew, caused by Sphaerotheca pannosa var. rosae, is one of the most important fungal diseases in roses.
It severely damages rose leaves and often causes leaf distortion, curling and premature defoliation.
The disease has been managed mainly by chemical fungicides, but recent reports have highlighted the potential of biological control as an alternative strategy for disease management.
The objective of this paper is to summarize the data on the antagonistic fungi which have been tested as potential biocontrol agents or have been reported as natural antagonists of this plant pathogen.
