Abstract
Energy is wasted in a heated greenhouse when the air temperature near the roof (where heat losses occur) is greater than that required within the crop zone.
Vertical temperature gradients in several situations are compared; different heating systems in greenhouses varying in size from low Venlo structures to 22 m wide clear span houses are considered.
