Abstract
Karyograms were made of 6 diploid loquat cultivars and 11 triploid progeny produced from open pollinations of the diploids.
Chromosome sizes in triploids and diploids varied between 2 and 6 µm, centromeres were median or submedian, and arm ratios varied between 1.57 and 1.97. Some clones had satellited chromosomes.
An analysis of satellite chromosomes in diploids and triploids indicate that triploid may result from non-reduction in either the seed or pollen parent.
