Abstract
The use of rootstocks with hypersensitivity resistance to Plum pox virus (PPV) is an effective strategy to prevent the spread of sharka disease.
In order to evaluate the pomological characteristics of newly developed plum rootstocks, an international rootstock trial was set up in 2013 including the Prunus domestica cultivars Jojo and Čačanska Lepotica and the hypersensitive rootstocks Docera® 6 and Dospina® 235 as well as the PPV sensitive rootstocks Weiwa® and Wavit®. First results show that all rootstocks induce medium vigor to the scions and that yield and fruit quality are in a range that make all rootstocks tested suitable for commercial production.
