Abstract

The cultivation of citrus species is affected by several fungal pathogens, which can cause diseases and reduce their production.
This research aimed to identify fungal strains on citrus trees with symptoms of anthracnose and assay their pathogenicity in greenhouse conditions.
The surveys were carried out during 2021 to 2022. The fungal strains were identified based on their morphological characteristics and were completed using PCR amplification and sequencing of the ITS regions and some known protein-coding genes.
In the greenhouse assays, it was found that some isolated fungi cause symptoms of branch canker, necrotic lesions, fruit, and leaf spot in the inoculated areas via a detached method on mandarin and lime.
The results showed that isolates of Colletotrichum species were mainly members of the Gloeosporioides complex. Colletotrichum siamense found to be the most dominant species associated with symptomatic citrus, followed by C. gloeosporioides. This research work represents the incidence of Colletotrichum species with symptomatic citrus species and their pathogenicity was confirmed.
