Abstract
A new bacterial disease of tomato in greenhouse has been detected for the first time in Portugal, in December 1982 and January 1983, by the authors.
The observed symptomatology and the morphological, biochemical physiological and pathogenicity tests demonstrated that the isolated bacteria is similar to Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato (Okabe, 1933) Young, Dye & Wilkie, 1978 (= P. tomato), the causal agent of bacterial speck of tomato.
Epidemiology and control measures are also inclused in this study.
