Abstract
An accumulation of the flavanone prunin was found in the phloem above the union of incompatible Prunus grafts and this was proposed as a marker of incompatibility.
Callus cultures were used to study the influence of sucrose as well as that of various hormones on flavanone synthesis.
Prunin supplement to the medium resulted in an inhibition of callus growth and in a changed cellular differentiation.
The findings were theoretically projected to the graft union.
