Abstract
Liquid media confirm to induce vitrification in proliferating shoots of M-26, ‘Starkspur’ and ‘York Imperial’. In these cultivars, the use of initiating explants with 4–6 leaves promote less vitrification than those with only the 2 apical leaves.
In vitrifying shoots of M-26, the peroxidase activity was higher than in normal ones and glutathione-reduced added to liquid media modified the enzymatic behaviour in proliferating shoots and reduced the incidence of vitrification.
