Abstract
Progress towards identifying and characterizing tolerance to Cytospora canker caused by Leucostoma persoonii in peach is reviewed.
High levels of tolerance to both field and excised twig inoculation were identified in open-pollinated progeny of the Russian Plant Introduction ‘Yennoh’. Preliminary results suggest that the tolerant seedlings produce higher amounts of lignin in response to wounding; however, further experiments are required to confirm this hypothesis.
