Abstract
Pedigree®©, for Windows is a user friendly program designed to help plant breeders and researchers track information, view images and draw pedigrees of the genotypes of 37 different fruit crops.
The program has been designed so that a user familiar with the Windows operating environment should have little need to refer to the documentation provided with the program.
Pedigree allows full access (add/delete/modify) to the available, entered or imported data and images and the information can be modified based on regional response of the genotype regardless of what is given in the data set for the cultivar.
There is no restriction on the number of genotypes and images for a particular crop.
The available images and data entered in Pedigree can be retrieved (cut and paste) and modified using your favorite graphic and spreadsheet software (Excel, Access, Lotus, FoxPro, etc.) or directly by the Pedigree program.
Basic information like male and female parents, origin and some plant, fruit and disease characteristics are already entered for several fruit crops, including more than 1400 apple, 800 strawberry, 800 almond, 100 blackberry, 80 blueberry, 790 pear, 200 raspberry cultivars, etc.
Visit http://www.pgris.com/ to get a demonstration copy, Pedigree Import Wizard and additional information on Pedigree database and structure.
