Abstract
The status of sustainable strawberry production in Europe was surveyed.
In some countries organic strawberry production has reached a level of 4-6%. The extent of IP in Europe ranges from <10% up to 80% of the total production area.
While rules for organic strawberry production are regulated by the EU-directive 2092/91, the IOBC guideline for the Integrated Production of Soft Fruits should serve as a framework for the formulation of national IP-guidelines.
The survey revealed that national IP guidelines diverge from the IOBC standards concerning the classification of certain pesticide groups as well as in the implementation of preventive measures.
