Abstract
In Slovenia, conditions suitable for growing persimmon are mostly in its south-western part with the Mediterranean climate.
The cultivar Kaki Tipo is prevailing.
In this area, at the Fruit Growing Centre of Bilje, eight cultivars planted in the spring of 2000 were tested for their agronomical and pomological characteristics.
Yield and fruit characteristics (mean fruit weight, external and internal fruit characteristics) were collected from 2002 to 2007 for the cultivars Hana Fuyu, Cal Fuyu, O’Gosho, Jiro C-24276 belonging to the PCNA group, Kaki Tipo, Amankaki, Thiene belonging to the PVNA group and Tone Wase belonging to the PVA group.
The highest cumulative yield per tree in the 6-year period was recorded for cultivars Kaki Tipo, Amankaki and Cal Fuyu. Cultivar Thiene obtained high yield too, while the other tested cultivars were less productive.
Cultivars Kaki Tipo, Thiene and Tone Wase had the best pomological characteristics.
Among cultivars from the PCNA group, Jiro C-24276 was characterized as the best regarding pomological traits while the ripening time of cultivars Cal Fuyu and O’Gosho was observed as too late for our climate.
