Abstract

The paper presents the growth and reproductive properties of four apple cultivars with yellow-colored fruit skin Gold Milenium, Goldrush, Defloga and Golden Resistant, compared with the standard cultivar Golden Delicious. The study was conducted over the 2016-2019 period in a collection plantation of the Institute of Agriculture – Kyustendil.
The trees are grafted on MM 106 rootstocks, planted in 2012 on 4.5×2.5 m spacing and grown as free-growing crowns.
Five apple trees of each cultivar were evaluated during the period of initial and fast increasing fruiting.
All four cultivars are well adapted to the conditions of the area and have valuable biological and economic qualities.
The highest average yields were recorded for the cultivars Defloga (19.8 kg tree^-1) and Gold Milenium (19.1 kg tree^-1). The same two cultivars had the largest fruit (187.0 and 180.6 g, respectively). The highest soluble solids content were recorded for Golden Delicious, followed by Goldrush.
